Summer fun in NYC

At the end of August, we traveled to NYC for a few days before heading over to New Jersey for a family visit and to attend the wedding of my cousin Alicia.  We had no set plans, just ventured out and found some fun things to keep us busy! This picture was taken atop the Highline.  The Highline is an elevated garden/walkway path located along the west side of Manhattan.  It was originally used to transport railroad cars, but now have an organization to maintain it and keep it beautiful!  (p.s. I chopped my hair off a few days earlier!)

Every inch of it is different, and you never know what's around the corner (unless you've been before).
Its pretty long, so when we were tired we enjoyed people watching with the beautiful view.

There was one section where there was a water feature on the ground. I'd like one in my backyard!

There's even sections with lawn chairs for people to sunbathe!
It just so happens to be a nice walk away from Magnolia Cafe.
(The famous cupcake place from Sex and the City)  Remember my cupcake addiction?

One for me, one for Kirk, and a cookie for good measure!
I love this man!
And his support in my cupcake addiction.
I've visited Ground Zero during every stage of re-building.  My first visit was 3 months after 9-11 when the destruction was still lingering the streets of the financial district.  The liberty tower and reflection pool are going to be a beautiful tribute.

We had dinner reservations in SoHo, so we had time to go visit my step-sister Cara, step brother Chris, and my niece Lilah!  Kirk had her giggling so hard, she couldn't breath!  "Again, again, again" she said over and over!

This is the best picture we could get of her!

Look how big I am!  She loves Kirk!

Dinner at Boom NYC, delicious!!!

I heart cheese!!!

The ceiling was really cool!

We also ate at a restaurant called "Cuba" the night before.  I didn't get any pictures, but the atmosphere made you feel like you were actually in Cuba complete with a cigar roller and Cuban band!  The food was superb!

Walking back to our hotel we came across lines of people waiting for something.  We asked a guy, and apparently the newest sneaker had just come out, and was worth the wait!

We took the train out of the city, and my dad picked us up at the train station and took us to my "Uncle" George and "Aunt" Patti's house.  He is actually my dad's cousin, but I've always known him as Uncle George (even though he's technically my 2nd cousin!)  Uncle George is one of my favorite people.....ever!  He is the funniest man I've ever met, and I loved getting to visit with them while we were in town!  His nickname was "Flash" back in the day, and I feed off of his energy!

We went to the hotel that night before the wedding, and relaxed at the pool that day before the wedding. My sister Chrissy and brother in law Stephen met us there, and we had fun the whole weekend.  Chrissy was exhausted after working non-stop for the electric company helping with repairs from the hurricane!

I love  my sister Chrissy.
My Dad and his brothers Uncle Charlie, and Uncle Billy.

Some things never change....wise guys!
My cousin Lisa with her magazine worthy family!
My cousin Donna with her twins Carolyn and Michael.

Kirk's new BF my Uncle George and Aunt Patti.  My posing in these next few pictures is a little ridiculous, I look the same in each one....with my arm propped on my hip....hmmm.
Family Love. My Dad, My Kathy, My Chrissy, My Stephen, and My Honey!
My Girl Cousins, boy I don't fit in with this group :-) I sure don't look Italian when I stand next to them!
My Cousin Alicia and her Husband Rob. (This is why I prop my arm...grrr)
Me and my Daddy.  He's so handsome, I love that he doesn't look or act his age!
We partied in our room after the wedding!  I wanted to be included, so I stuck out my pretty foot!
Enjoying a night cap at Uncle Georges in this tiny cordial glass...I felt so fancy!
We left the wedding weekend to spend some time with my dad's best friend since Elementary School, my "Uncle Mike and Aunt Ginny".  They own a summer/weekend house on the Barnegat Bay, this is a weird picture but I wanted to show the patio overlooking the bay with a hot tub that we definitely spent some time in!
Uncle Mike and Aunt Ginny.  I 've know them my entire life, and we had a wonderful time visiting with them.  We also got to go to the beach with their daughter Laura who is like a sister to me, and enjoy Laura and her boyfriend Ken's cooking.  So delish!  When Laura and I are together, Kirk only understood half of what we were saying....we both talk really, really fast!  But, she's got me beat!
Our last night in New Jersey, we met back up with Uncle George and Aunt Patti, and Chrissy.  We drove and hour to Atlantic City to hit the casino!  I loved this chandelier!
I never realized that Monopoly is based on Atlantic City.  All of the street names are those used in the game!
Dad with his oldest and youngest!
We had such a wonderful time with family and friends while we visited!  See you all next time! XOXO
